{"id":1021,"date":"2018-10-29T19:15:34","date_gmt":"2018-10-29T19:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/drekky.mtstrives.com\/?p=1021"},"modified":"2018-10-29T19:15:34","modified_gmt":"2018-10-29T19:15:34","slug":"microsoft-ends-with-github-acquisition-for-billions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drekky.mtstrives.com\/ta\/microsoft-ends-with-github-acquisition-for-billions\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft ends with GitHub acquisition for $7.5 billion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft\u2019s purchase of GitHub for $7.5 billion has now officially gone through and GitHub is part of the Microsoft family.<\/p>\n<p>The open-source software company GitHub will continue to remain independent\u00a0while under Microsoft\u2019s umbrella, like LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<p>Just four months into Microsoft\u2019s fiscal year, the company has spent more on acquisitions than it has in many entire years in the past.<\/p>\n<p>Nat Friedman, former CEO of Xamarin (acquired by Microsoft in 2016), is taking over as GitHub\u2019s CEO, Microsoft said in their <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.microsoft.com\/blog\/2018\/10\/26\/microsoft-completes-github-acquisition\/\">official blog<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u0bae\u0bc8\u0b95\u0bcd\u0bb0\u0bc7\u0bbe\u0b9a\u0bbe\u0baa\u0bcd\u0b9f\u0bcd <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.microsoft.com\/blog\/2018\/06\/04\/microsoft-github-empowering-developers\/\">announced<\/a> in June that it has reached an agreement to acquire GitHub.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1023\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1023\" class=\"wp-image-1023 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/drekky.mtstrives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/microsoft-github.png\" alt=\"microsoft github\" width=\"810\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/drekky.mtstrives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/microsoft-github.png 810w, https:\/\/drekky.mtstrives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/microsoft-github-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/drekky.mtstrives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/microsoft-github-770x433.png 770w, https:\/\/drekky.mtstrives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/microsoft-github-20x11.png 20w, https:\/\/drekky.mtstrives.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/microsoft-github-385x217.png 385w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1023\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GitHub Blog<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.github.com\/2018-10-26-github-and-microsoft\/\">GitHub blog post<\/a> on Friday, Friedman said that <strong>\u201cI\u2019ve spent the past few months meeting with hundreds of developers as I prepared for this role, from maintainers to startups to large businesses,\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>GitHub would operate independently as a community, platform, and business.<\/p>\n<p>So, developers will continue to be able to use the programming languages, tools and operating systems of their choice for their projects \u2014 and will still be able to deploy their code to any operating system, any Cloud and any device.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our vision is to serve every developer on the planet, by being the best place to build software.
